Purchasing Specialist

General Purpose of the Position:

This position is primarily responsible for purchasing the proper amount of product, at best prices, to maintain appropriate levels of inventory on hand for customers, while minimizing inventory levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Direct ship orders, update ship dates in the system and obtain tracking information.
  • Work with AP to bill direct shipments and resolve invoice issues.
  • Process purchase orders on vendor portals.
  • Review open PO report for late and past due PO’s and take necessary action.
  • Purchase requisition items for various departments.
  • Process customer/vendor returns and interdepartmental transfers.
  • Build new part numbers and maintain part numbers that are set up on the fly.
  • Purchase stock and non-stock products for the CEP manufacturing operations.
  • Expedite CEP purchase orders, update ship dates, and insure timely delivery of project material.
  • Work with engineers to source and procure product for engineering projects.
  • Purchase repair components for the Qualitrol division.
  • Manage RMAs and enforce the return policy.
  • Work closely with Inside Sales on customer issues.
  • Maintain Vendor relations and negotiate costs.

Education and Experience Required:

  • AS/AA Degree; and two to four years purchasing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software and Windows operating systems, and general business productivity tools.
