Robot Field Service Technician

General Purpose of the Position:

Engineer or technician trained in robotic arms and controllers. Knowledge programming and troubleshooting problems with code and hardware, capable of solving and repairing issues in the field as needed with applications internally or at customer sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On call position to perform emergency repairs of Epson, Universal Robots, and MiR system equipment in the field.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate, define, and execute obsolescence migration programs at customer sites.
  • Provide system integration support of Epson, Universal Robots, and MiR robots to CIMTEC Engineered Products (CEP), systems integrator customers, as well as the end users.
  • Perform robot program changes such as logic, software and path alterations through either off-line or on-line methodology.
  • Advise on repairs performed at CIMTEC site repair center.
  • Advise on repair component inventory levels.
  • Provide robot specific or systems training in both formal and informal environments to customers as required.
  • Have mechanical aptitude for performing any mechanical component repair or replacement.
  • Capable of traveling on short notice and handle rigors of frequent road and occasional air travel.
  • Submit Sales leads for additional Robotic and system opportunities.
  • Communicate work location and status daily.
  • 80% Travel. Usually CIMTEC’s principal territory: NC/SC/VA, but occasionally a wider eastern US region, and seldomly other North American locations.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 2+ years of electronic and mechanical experience.
  • Troubleshooting experience using deductive reasoning.
  • 2+ years of related applications experience preferred: Precision assembly, material handling, packaging, and dispensing applications, etc.
  • Previous Field Service Experience.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude for performing any mechanical component repair or replacement.
  • Knowledge of PLC communications and other robotic peripheral equipment.
  • Strong desire to travel.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED AND 5 years of mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, or engineering experience OR
  • Associate's degree in a technical field AND 3 years of mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, or engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1 year of mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, or engineering experience.
