*Based on a 1" upward move, 12" horizontal move, 1" down move and return using the IX-500-200.
Controller Features
Using an enhanced version of IAI's SEL programming language (specifically designed for non-programmers), the acclaimed X-SEL® controller takes advanced applications and makes them plug & play easy.
You will dramatically reduce your engineering time and costs with the built-in-commands that simplify traditionally tedious programming tasks related to palletizing, dispensing, machine vision integration, and more.
Ethernet networking (from Q3 2003), high speed multi-tasking, synchronous drive control, infinite motion, expandable I/O and a unique "Push" function (for control of compression and torque) are just some of the benefits you get using the X-SEL® controller.
Truly User-Friendly Software |
- Assign your own names to all points & variables
- Run operations line-by-line for easy fine-tuning and de-bugging
- Control torque and compression with the innovative "Push" function
- Teach just 3 points then use the "Palletize" command to have the controller calculate the rest
|
X-SEL CONTROLLERS
- No programming experience required
- 2-axis synchronous control
- Unique "Pus" function for torque control
- Built-in commands to reduce engineering time
- Dedicated or Expandable I/O
Now a range of Robo Cylinder (RCS) and DS servo actuators can be made to run with X-SEL®! Contact us for details.
ProThe X-SEL® advantage is simple: it makes complex programming easy. The X-SEL® controller and software are pre-engineered to handle both advanced and common tasks with simple, pre-programmed commands.

SEL System Architecture
Customer demand for multitasking is the driving force behind X-SEL® technology. To be able to handle up to 64 programs - and 16 different ones at the same time, there is a separate main CPU and motion CPU to split the duties of the motion control. Click on the link below for a diagram of the SEL internal architecture.
Programming - the SEL Language
The X-SEL® controllers are run by a user-friendly language known as "SEL". It's a mnemonic language in which 3 and 4 letter commands hint towards the actual process. Examples of the commands from earlier versions are "HOME" and "VEL".
The SEL Language requires no previous programming experience. 90% of the applications need only 15 unique commands, greatly reducing the learning curve and time needed for system development.
While 90% of the applications only use 15 commands, there are over 100 commands available that allow for Serial Communication, Serial Networking, multitasking, and more!
Programming is done either via hand-held teach pendant or our affordable PC Interface Software.
To select the appropriate controller from among the many available configurations, please view the PDF brochure below.
