Emerson Control Techniques – Motion Control

Control Techniques servo systems have provided high-performance motion control solutions to many industries, most notably the automated assembly, materials handling, and packaging industries. The success of these motion control products on the wide variety of applications employed by these industries is an outgrowth of the Emerson’s Motion Made Easy philosophy, which is to offer a full-range of flexible and rugged performance-matched systems that are both easy to install and program.

Three fully-digital, brushless servo drive platforms are the core of the Motion Made Easy servo drive product line. The Modular Drive System (MDS Servo Drive) is the most advanced series of servo drives. The EN Series Servo drive is a stand-alone mid-powered range servo drive consisting of three models. The Epsilon EP series consists of three sizes of stand-alone, compact low- to mid-powered servo drives that incorporate several advanced features and capabilities.

It is relatively simple to match Motion Made Easy drives and motors to specific processes. The key is matching the right control to the specific application. Emerson Control Techniques has two motion control technologies to accomplish this task. For single-axis, axis-and-a-half or synchronized motion control applications there is the FM controls line. These function modules easily attach to the face of the MDS Series Drives and EN Series Drives to provide the level of motion control you need. The Epsilon EP servo drive and Digitax ST servo drive products have integrated motion control solutions to proved the best possible motor control.

Note: For high-horsepower servo, vector, or DC drive applications requiring up to 18,000 lb-in continuous torque, see the Unidrive SP or DC drive products.

The MC Controller is ideal for applications requiring interpolated motion and tightly coordinated motion sequencing. The Motion Coordinator (MC) series of centralized controllers offer scalability and flexibility. Scalability is offered through the choice of two different base motion controllers and over 15 daughter board options. These hardware options work with all Emerson Control Techniques servo drives.
